Moving FAQs

No matter if you are planning to move across the country or just down the street, there are a lot of things that go into making sure moving day goes as smoothly as possible. At GM Van Lines, our Florida moving company has more than 41 years of combined experience in the moving industry, helping over 80,000 families and businesses relocate easily and stress-free. Here are some of the most frequently asked questions when it comes to moving:

How to Book a Move with GM Van Lines?

Hiring a professional moving company can drastically change your overall moving experience. Here’s how easy it is to book with the top Florida moving company:

What is the Best Time of Year to Move?

When given the opportunity, many people choose to move during months that typically have the best weather — the summer months. If you are looking to move between May and September, it is important to book your moving company early as it is pretty busy!

What is an In-Home Estimate?

At GM Van Lines we are dedicated to providing you with the most accurate and comprehensive moving quotes, which is why we offer an in-home estimate where we send a trained moving professional to your house to estimate how much there is to move and how much it will cost to move. They will also recommend some of the different services we have to offer.

When Should I Get My Moving Estimate?

Six weeks to two months is a great starting point especially if it’s the busy season (May – September) so you don’t have to rush. This way you can get an estimate and get everything set up for your move. Take advantage of our moving planner to stay on task!  We also do last-minute moves, just call us and we will get you set up.

Binding Vs. Non-Binding Estimate

A binding estimate is an estimate that has the precise cost of the move and is based on the services requested at the time of the in-home estimate. With a non-binding estimate, the cost of the move comes down to the actual weight of your shipment and the cost of the services that you have requested.

What is a Bill of Lading?

The bill of lading is a contract between you and the mover. It will be given to you before the mover loads your goods onto the truck. As with any contract, it’s your responsibility to read it before you sign on the dotted line.

What Items Am I Not Allowed to Move?

Here is a list of things that CAN NOT be moved in our trucks:
